PSAT Testing
PSAT Testing Grades 9-10
Any 9th-10th grade student wishing to take the PSAT exam must purchase an exam through the school store in Infinite Campus.
- PSAT testing for 9th and 10th graders takes place in the Spring.
- 9th grade students take the PSAT 8/9 and 10th grade students take the PSAT 10.
- The free for the PSAT 8/9 is $14
- The fee for the PSAT 10 is $18

- PSAT 10 - April 9

PSAT Testing Information
The Digital PSAT 8/9 takes 2 hours and 14 minutes and consists of 2 sections: (1) the Reading and Writing section, and (2) the Math section. Most of the questions are multiple choice, but some of the answers to the math questions will need to be typed, not selected.

The Reading and Writing section equally divides 54 questions between two modules.
The Math section has 44 questions evenly divided between 2 modules. An acceptable calculator can be used on the entire Math section of the test.
- Math content covered includes:
- Algebra
- Advanced Math
- Problem solving and Data Analysis
- Geometry & Trigonometry (volume, angles, triangles, trig and circles)
Calculator Usage
Calculator are permitted on all questions in the Math section. The digital test has a built-in graphing calculator, or you can use your own approved calculator.
Calculator Rules
- Calculators cannot be used while working on the Reading and Writing section. Calculator must be away during these modules of the test.
- If a calculator is used to share information during the test, or to remove test questions or answers from the test room, you will be dismissed and scores canceled.

Tips for Testing
- Get plenty of rest the night before.
- Eat breakfast! It will help provide essential energy for the test.
- Read all the directions carefully, so you understand them clearly.
- Read all of the question’s answer choices before selecting your answer.

PSAT 10
Digital PSAT 10 – 10th graders
The PSAT 10 takes 2 hours and 14 minutes and consists of 2 sections tests: (1) the Reading and Writing section, and (2) the Math Test. Most of the questions are multiple choice, but some of the answers to the math questions will need to be typed, not selected.

The Reading and Writing section has 54 questions evenly divided between 2 modules and is designed to measure critical college and career readiness in literacy. In this section, there are multiple-choice questions that require: reading, comprehension, using information and ideas in texts; text analysis and revision.
The Math Test focuses on different areas of math:
- Heart of Algebra - linear equations and systems.
- Problem Solving and Data Analysis - analyzing problems and drawing information from data.
- Passport to Advanced Math - manipulate complex equations.
- Additional Topics in Math – 2 questions from geometry and trigonometry
Most of the test is multiple choice, but some of the questions require a written answer.

- A calculator cannot be used while working on the Reading and Writing section.

PSAT Results
PSAT Results:
Students can get their scores for all PSAT-related assessments by logging into the College Board Student Score Reports with the username and password they utilized for their College Board account. If they don’t have an account, it’s easy to create one. https://cbaccount.collegeboard.org/iamweb/smartRegister
If they created an account, but can’t remember their password, please contact College board for assistance, rather than creating another account.
- Scores should be available to view online 3-4 weeks after the test date.
- Students who downloaded the Big Future mobile app should receive an email once their scores are available.

Test Day Info
General Test Day Info:
- Please arrive on time to your testing room.
- For test security, students should leave their cell phones/smart watches/etc. locked in their locker for the duration of the test.
- Scrap paper and pencils will be provided.
Students should bring:
- Their fully charged district issued Chromebook.
- An acceptable calculator – if you prefer to use your own. A graphing calculator built into the app.

- A drink or snacks (for your break)
